Spring term 2017

Winter quietly recedes...
Spring gently awakens

Here in McGregor we were privileged to participate for the fifth time in the magnificent McGregor Poetry Festival - each year it grows and touches the hearts and souls of an ever increasing number of people.
And then this last weekend the annual bicycle event, 'The Road to Nowhere', brought hundreds of cyclists of all ages and walks of life to McGregor - the village buzzed with bicycles.
Amidst these life giving Spring events KalloSophia renewed the golden thread linking spirit and matter in our 'Stepping into the Infinite' - the depth and quality of soul connection was astounding. Do look at the photographs of one of the activities and comments made by participants by clicking on the tabs 'Gallery' and 'Responses' at the top of this Blog Home page. We will be repeating this course next month in Cape Town - see below. In the meantime here is something to ponder:

Cosmic Geometry
When the Creator took His compasses
And measured out the sky from star to star,
He plotted intersecting arcs to stress
The meeting ground where the archangels are.
In heavenly space a line does not divide -
Circumference and centre coincide...

If I can think this with my finite mind,
Participating in the Infinite,
The universe is with my heart entwined;
And I am of God a little tiny bit;
A constellation shines in every flower;
Eternity imbues each mortal hour.

 Public Events in September and October 2017

KalloSophia turns 7 in September!
To commemorate these seven years we are introducing a new theme which will be explored through number of different events into the near future.

Our New Theme: Africa Revered
Celebrating Africa through Myths, Legends and Story

22 - 25 September  2017 - a long weekend
McGregor

We will journey into this mysterious continent, rich in soul, active in spirit, this heart of the world, our mother continent. Your hearts will be stirred through folk tales, lore, ancient markings and revelations. Opportunities to engage through painting, drawing, geometry, conversation and the written word will nurture, inspire, and challenge you as you open your souls to be touched by the Spirit of Africa.

To begin our celebrations we will be offering our first
Africa Revered event in McGregor during the long weekend in September:
Hidden Voices of Ethiopia
“Its essence sighs in the singing of hymns, lights up in paintings, and whispers in stories and dreams in its old books. Faces, hands and feet tell their own story; even the landscape speaks its own, powerful language. Heavenly vistas open up under the earth, on the mountains, and in the water. But above all, they open up within the people.”
Bernd Bierbaum: In Ethiopia

Over three evenings we will trace the hidden thread interwoven through the stories of King Solomon the Wise, Makeda, the mysterious Queen of the South, also known as the Queen of Sheba, and the great temple builders, Hiram and Lalibela.
